@nartagnan
Australia's conservative opposition coalition has proposed to slash temporary and humanitarian visas while prioritizing skilled workers in what it called the "biggest cut to immigration" in the nation's history. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2026/10/06/asia-pacific/society/australia-opposition-immigration-cut/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #asiapacific #society #australia #immigration #angustaylor
Oh god I came to Toronto with nothing for warmth but a loose jean jacket dress and it is 4C / 40F out

@davidgerard dawg half of these are major donors to NPR, we really have to figure out a way to stop that
git pretending it doesn't understand how to automatically merge changes in which one side added one unique line and the other added a unique line at the same spot of a makefile is:
(1) real fucking cute, linus
(2) literally the entire fucking reason to enforce tyrannical line-based syntax for the past half fucking century
go to hell, linus
@hipsterelectron have you looked at other models like patch based? I’m curious about your thoughts here
#OtD 6 Oct 1971 inmates at the New Mexico prison began a work and hunger strike in protest at increased restrictions. The next day a riot began and was quickly repressed. Several guards would be indicted over use of force and brutalisation of prisoners https://stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/10663/new-mexico-prison-riot

To whom it may concern :)) ... i hereby declare that i am the one who wrote on bu.noblogs.org and who now writes on https://biebabebi.tracciabi.li/
I can prove the second assertion: just see my bio here, https://todon.nl/@junes, where the link to biebabebi.tracciabi.li is verified (https://docs.joinmastodon.org/user/profile/#verification)
I can somewhat prove the first assertion too: before autistici/inventati was shut down, the link was to bu.noblogs.org, it was verified, and maybe some people here does remember this and would testify :))

The horns blared, the old gods spoke and there was a Goatmire; A whole week of Nordic Elixir Excellence that Lars own words capture far better than I could hope to achieve. #elixir #goatmire
I wouldn't say these albums "made me", but they all had impacts on a young me. Mostly in terms of expanding my horizons in one way or another from growing up in a small town in a dusty, prickly, out of the way corner of New Mexico (yes, even the Madonna and Beastie Boys).
Beastie Boys: "Licensed to Ill"
Madonna: "I'm Breathless"[1]
Enya: "Watermark"
Yello: "Stella" (Just wild creative stuff)
The Police: "Live!"
U2: "The Joshua Tree"
Indigo Girls: "1200 Curfews"
Peter Gabriel: "Secret World Live"
Dead Can Dance: "Within the Realm of a Dying Sun"
(I'm actually not sure which Dead Can Dance to pick. Once I discovered them, I picked up as much of their catalog as I could.)
[1] I probably wouldn't have bought this for myself, but my dad won it in a raffle during a showing of the Dick Tracy movie and promptly handed the cassette to me. At the end, they included "Vogue", but my favorite on it is the duet with Mandy Patinkin: "What Can You Lose":

@cstanhope Oh, I don't know if I could pick 9. I might if I could pick the ones that I kept or keep coming back to. The Cars _Heartbeat City_ practically lived in my Walkman, listened to it while delivering newspapers every day. Styx _Paradise Theater_ for sure.
But like, _albums_? I didn't own that many albums in high school, and that changed _slowly_ after I bought a CD player after I graduated.
But I'm afraid most of the 9 would be out of those few I owned in HS.
Here is the cover I created for a story by Jeff Vandermeer , author of *Annihilation / Southern Reach*.
Someone is a bit fed up that #curl limits individual cookies parsed from a file to 8200 bytes.
"the pedantic opinion of someone" has a nice touch, I'd say.
Sorry, the app encountered an unexpected error
